Russell, who passed away in July 2022, amassed an astonishing 11 NBA titles during his career with the Celtics. The No. 6 jersey has been retired by the Celtics franchise, and no player will wear it again in honor of Russell's legacy.
Since September 2022, the Celtics have released a list of every player in their history who has worn the No. 6 jersey for at least one game. This list includes some of the most iconic players in Celtics history, such as Tommy Heinsohn, Bill Sharman, and Ed Macauley.
